Over the last month LAB have been helping Nottingham Contemporary develop their plans for the worlds largest photobooth. This is an early model for a physically oversized booth that we developed. It was later decided to use the whole of the space as the photobooth, projecting the images on the rear wall over 17ft high.
LAB brought in freelance Interaction Designer and LAB supporter/collaborator Brendan Oliver to develop the software behind the booth while LAB developed the bespoke computer controlled flash and automated Flikr upload. It was a challenge to make all of these components work together in the timescale we were working on, but we got it working aside a few bugs we are ironing out as I type.
This proved an enjoyable way to cut our collaborative teeth and discover how we work together and with others outside of LAB without having to develop the idea from scratch. The photobooth will be open to the public for free at Nottingham Contemporary Tuesday to Sunday for the rest of the Summer.
